On Saturday 17th September 2016 months and months of planning by the Friends of All Saints School (FASSA) came to fruition when the annual Music and Arts Festival took place in the beautiful surroundings of the school grounds.
Once again, the sun shone and local people arrived in their droves to enjoy an afternoon of music, drink, food and fun.
Kevin Broadway, Headteacher said, “The day is such a testament to the hard work of a very dedicated Committee. The previous two festivals have funded a new ICT Suite that has been invaluable since we installed it and this year the festival raised over a staggering £7,000. We are so grateful to our sponsors, helpers, pupils, parents and musicians for continuing to come along each year and help make the event the success that it is.”
Amanda Dunning of the FASSA Committee said, “We are very grateful to our sponsors, as sponsorship covers the cost of putting on the event, so every penny raised can go directly to helping not only the current pupils, but also those who attend the school in the future.”
The day proved to have something for everyone with jamming sessions, live bands including: Under the Carousel, Blazing Strings, The Omega Project and Replay amongst many others. The day also saw: a Grand Prize draw; BBQ; Bridal and Ball fashion show and performances from Razzamataz, Julie Story, Odyssey and Amberlights Majorettes, Juno Belly Dancers and Weymouth & Dorchester Tae Kwon Do Club to name just a few.
High teas were served by the Wyke Regis WI, The Weymouth and Portland Lions Club helped with Admissions and there was a football competition and some amazing displays from the Transport of Yesteryear.
The funds raised this year will contribute towards the cost of resources needed to deliver the new GCSE qualifications.
