As part of our Harvest celebrations, we planned to give back to our community by organising a food bank collection. Students and staff all got together to collect various different food items including; tins, pasta, sauces, coffee, tea and even dog food!
A representative from Portland Food Bank came to a lower school assembly to thank everyone and to collect the food. Rosemarie from Portland Food Bank had this to say “We’re are incredibly thankful and blown away with the donations from everyone at All Saints. We rely completely on donations from people like you, as there is no government funding for our sort of charity.” Rosemarie also wanted to add “That if you have any other donations, various supermarkets in Weymouth & Portland offer trollies near to the front of the store for donations throughout the year. You can also find out what the food bank is currently lacking in stock, by visiting the food banks website and Facebook group.
Portland Food Bank is open every week on Tuesday at 9:30 – 11:30 & Friday 9:30 – 11:30. They are located at St. Johns Church Hall, Ventor Lane. Completely run by volunteers too.
