This morning Year 9 students were privileged to hear the testimony from Holocaust survivor, William Bergman.
William’s testimony included his recollections of Kristallnacht, his father and grandfather being temporarily taken to Dachau Concentration Camp before he and his parents managed to escape to England five weeks before war broke out. In England, they spent some time interned as ‘stateless enemy aliens’ in the Isle of Man and after the war, discovered that his grandparents and extended family had been gassed in Treblinka.
We were so privileged to welcome Mr Bergman to our school. We hope that the students who heard Mr Bergman’s testimony learn from the lessons of the Holocaust and make a positive difference in their own lives.
