We were pleased to welcome Hanna and Laura to All Saints. Both girls are 15 years old and from the Neues Gymnasium (Grammar School), Bochum in Northern Germany. They spent a fortnight attending lessons with year 10 students in order to experience life in a British school and to improve their English. Hanna and Laura joined 10W, wearing their All Saints uniforms.
Tia Pickering and Shannon Kavanagh looked after the girls whilst they were in school. Thank-you Shannon , Tia and Mrs Windybank for your help.

At the end of their stay I asked the girls how our school compared with theirs. Here are some of their thoughts:
The rules in our school are much stricter than in their school, for example, we wear a uniform and they do not, we are not allowed to use mobile phones and they are. They remarked that the uniform symbolises conformity, tradition and respect. They liked this and it was a good experience to wear a uniform .
However, they would not like to wear one in Germany !!!
It was interesting to see how the English children learn German. They particularly enjoyed History because the topic was interesting and Art was fun and gave them the chance to be creative.
A message from Laura and Hanna to the teachers:
“Vielen, vielen Dank an die Lehrer, die uns gut in den Unterricht integriert haben, und an alle, die uns die Möglichkeit für diesen Austausch gegeben haben.”
(Many, many thanks to the teachers who integrated us into their lessons and to everybody who gave us the opportunity to undertake this exchange.)
